Can constant masturbation early in life cause one to be ‘desensitized’ to engaging in intercourse?

For years, more often than not, when I engage in intercourse I lose my erection. Recently I’ve also been able to ejaculate without an erection (once) as well as it happening during masturbation. I used to masturbate more than regularly (more than 3 times a day at the most) but have tried not masturbating to see if that works but to no avail. I think I may suffer from ‘slight’ erectile dysfunction (haven’t been ‘officially’ diagnosed) in that I don’t sustain an erection for very long although desire is very strong. I also have ejaculated without being fully erect, both during intercourse as well as masturbation. I would like some information with which I can do some further research — facts, not opinions please. Thanks.

Chosen Answer:

In some cases, masturbation does lead to being used to certain types of penile stimulation or visual stimuli such as pornography in order to achieve climax, which could result in unsatisfactory stimulation during regular sexual intercourse.
